"SECOND WIND DREAMS" PROGRAM
P.K. Beville - Founder
Alpharetta, GA, USA.
Program Description
"We are changing the perception of aging through innovative educational programming and dreamweaving for our elders! Second Wind Dreams focuses on those living in eldercare communities. These are our seniors who need our assistance most. Family support may be non-existent and money can be at a premium, especially for our Medicaid supported seniors.
These senior adults are often our most frail the ones who need a dream fulfilled."

"They've opened libraries in nursing homes, arranged for rides on a fire truck and made someone a police officer for a day. One woman, at nearly 100 years old, got to don a pink leather jacket and hop on a motorcyle."

The program collects wish lists from seniors in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living centers and senior centers. With the help of donations and a large base of volunteers the "Second Wind Dreams" Program makes senior's dreams come true.
Some dreams for seniors fulfilled include:
Reunion Dreams - elderly wishing to reunite with someone from the past such as a relative or friend.
Life Long Dreams - elderly fulfilling a life long dream of experiencing an activity they have always longed for such as learning a new skill, graduating from college, thrill seeking, going on a trip or an outdoor experience.
Just for Fun Dreams - seniors have a chance to visit a museum or go to a show or meet a favorite celebrity
Needs Based Dreams -providing seniors with an important item or service that allows them to do something they would like to do such as free wheelchair.
Recalling Memory Dreams - Those with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia can re-live experiences they used to have such as going to the same places they used to go to.
The "Second Wind Dreams" Program can help provide seniors who have limited nursing home activities with a customized, worthwhile activity that truly means something to them. The "Second Wind Dreams" Program can help eliminate some of the regrets that seniors still may be holding on to for activities that they did not have an opportunity to experience earlier in life.
Those wishing to Sponsor a Senior Dream make a wish come true by visiting the "Second Wind Dreams" Program website where there is a detailed list of seniors in nursing facilities waiting for their dreams to be fulfilled. Sponsors can search for a senior dream and make individual donations of gifts to seniors.
