"WISH OF A LIFETIME" PROGRAM
Program Description
"At WOL(Wish of a Lifetime) we believe that most seniors have one thing in their life that they have always wanted to do or experience. However, and for many different reasons, many seniors never get to experience these dreams.
Through WOL and with your support, we will make those wishes come true, contributing to an American cultural change that honors and celebrates
the lives of our elders."

"Both Brookdale and Wish of a Lifetime provide a helping hand in making some of the dreams of our residents come true. Residents at Brookdale Senior Living communities nationwide are invited to share and submit their wishes to Wish of a Lifetime; through the granting of these lifelong wishes, our residents are able to find fulfillment in the six dimensions of our wellness platform: purposeful, emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and intellectual."

The Wish of a Lifetime Program partners with the Brookdale Senior Living Wish Program. Both organizations work together to make a wish come true for seniors. The partnership challenges the one size fits all attitudes of traditional senior assisted living/ nursing home activities. Seniors have the opportunity to participate in person-centered relevant activities suited to their preferences and interests. Wishes may include a learning activity, a thrill seeking type of activity or simply a needs based wish.
Examples of the wide range of senior wishes and gifts for seniors possible include:
-Renewing and celebrating passions and interests such as writing poetry, painting, riding a horse, taking singing lessons or reconnecting with someone from the past such as a relative or friend.
-Thrill seeking or life long dreams such as riding on a motorcycle, a hot air balloon ride, a fighter jet, a fishing trip, meeting a celebrity, going to a sports event, or a show.
-Basic needs wishes of being provided free wheelchairs, scooters, ramps, walkers, visual aids such as glasses, hearing aids, nutritional food such as fresh fruits and vegetables, clothing, stoves, refrigerators, air conditioners, heaters, mattresses.
"Wish of a Lifetime” has a special senior wish program called 'Project 11' to grant wishes to the men and women who have bravely served in the United States military. Through 'Project 11' veterans have the opportunity to visit the World War II memorial along with other memorials, attending reunions and achieve any other life long dreams such as reconnecting with loved ones such as visiting family and friends.
Donations can be made by individuals or corporations and can range from granting specific wishes or gift cards, car donations, air travel, and estate planning gifts.
Volunteers help make a wish come true for seniors by donating their time and skills to help arrange sponsors, fundraising, obtaining grants, increasing awareness of the make a wish type program and how it can help elderly, and organizing details to carry out senior wish requests.
The goal of the Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is to initiate a culture change by granting the wish of a lifetime to deserving seniors and to change the experience and perception of aging.
