BRAILLE INSTITUTE’S KITCHEN CONFIDENCE PROGRAM
In partnership with numerous grocery stores and other locations.
Program Description
The Braille Institute's Kitchen Confidence Program teaches visually impaired or low vision seniors how to safely use knifes, kitchen appliances such as microwaves etc.
The program not only promotes the self-confidence of low vision seniors but also promotes senior safety at home.
A list of useful tips for making it easier for seniors to get around in the kitchen easier can be found on the Braille Institute's website.
The program is a part of the organization’s "Solutions in Sight" public education campaign.
The Braille Institute has several other resources for those with age related vision loss including the "Braille Library" and the "Telephone Reader" Program.
