"CARE AND REPAIR MANCHESTER" PROGRAM
Program Description
"Before a contractor gets on our lists we get two character references for them and ensure they have correct insurance cover. Then after every job a contractor does for one of our clients we get feedback. If our staff find a contractor difficult to deal with our clients aren't happy with the work they complete we remove them from the list. If you do have a problem with work carried out by one of our contractors we can help you resolve the issue."

Senior homeowners are most likely to live in housing in need of repairs or in a home that no longer meets their needs as they are aging. Home improvement agencies offer home repairs and modifications to make life easier so that elderly can "stay put" or "age in place" and avoid moving into long-term care facilities.
The “Care and Repair Manchester” Program sends a home safety assessor to the home of an elderly client to discuss home improvement services. Home modifications may be recommended such as the installation of the following:
- Grab rails for the bath and shower and by front and back entrances
- Stair banister/ hand rails
- Non-slip bathmats and shower mats for fall prevention
- Carpet trims
- Securing of flexes and cables
- Power-down plugs free of charge
- Fire safety Smoke alarms free of charge
Manchester Care & Repair’s Home Repairs Support Team visits the home of the elderly, makes an assessment for any home improvements, obtains competitive quotes from reputable contractors builders, plumbers, roofers, electricians and supervise and inspect the work if you decide to go ahead.
Examples of home improvements for elderly include:
