Program Description
"By making homes a safer and more comfortable environment, thousands of people in Northern Ireland each year are avoiding the need for residential care or prolonged hospitalization thus remaining in the home of their choice."

People are aging and more and more are choosing to remain at home to retain their independence and remain close to their family, friends and support network. This is possible with an application to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for a grant to adapt or repair homes. Making homes more “senior friendly” can increase the safety and independence of older adults.
The “FOLD-Staying Put Home Improvement” Program advises elderly on the grants process, helps with grant documentation, helps obtain an architect, helps decide on a building contractor and provide technical advice or guidance when home improvement work is onsite.
A Housing Advisor visits the home of the elderly person to discuss the home improvement process.
Fold Housing Association provides a range of housing and support services throughout Northern Ireland.
