NATIONAL EXCHANGE CLUB ADOPT A GRANDPARENT
Program Description
“Exchange Club will continue to play a supporting role, it is recommended that club members allow the seniors and students the freedom to maintain an ongoing relationship on their own. Club representatives should maintain contact with the schools and nursing homes, to offer any special assistance that may be necessary.”

Youth from local schools adopt a nursing home resident as a ‘grandparent’ and provide regular visits to seniors at nursing care facilities. Youth can also write letters and provide gifts for their adopted grandparents.
Seniors receive an opportunity for regular social stimulation and connection with youth and young adults are able to better understand older adults.
Meeting ideas may be set by students, seniors, teachers and activities directors.
Examples of intergenerational activities may include nature walks, games, sharing stories photos and holiday parties.
The National Exchange Club’s programs supports a vision for a strong America, safe communities, and unified people. The National Exchange has a network of hundreds of local clubs across the United States.
