The PAWS LA - Preserving Animal Companionship for ElderlyProgram is a great pets for elderly program that assists seniors with the higher day-to-day costs of keeping a pet. The high cost of caring for a pet is usually the reason many seniors are not be able to continue having a pet.

PAWS/LA is to preserve the bond between people and their pets. PAWS/LA provides services to assist low-income seniors and people disabled by a life-threatening illness keep and care for their pets. The organization also manages PETCO PLACE a shelter in Hollywood, California for the homeless with pets. Homeless individuals can access emergency shelter and support services and receive help without having to part with their pet.
