The Digital Age Project can be facilitated by anyone who is interested in teaching older adults to be more digital/computer savvy such as residential care facilities, senior care homes, assisted living, caregivers, teachers, trainers, students or anyone who would like to help the elderly.

The digital training toolkit outlines the following considerations when training older adults on digital literacy and devices:

  • Why are older adults taking a digital literacy class – to use social media, connect with friends, family, online chats, social clubs, informational research.
  • Where will training take place – classroom, community room, home or private rooms.
  • What Technology will older adults be learning - providing older adults with the devices or will they bring their own, and what resources and devices will the trainer need to provide, wifi, signal speed.
  • What Topics will be covered – online safety, social media, sharing photos, video chat, government benefits and services, political campaigns, online banking.

The training also includes a helpful digital literacy glossary for older adults.
