Program Description

“ 2/3 of those diagnosed are women—and no one knows why. 2/3 of Alzheimer’s caregivers are also women, many of who will have to take time off or resign from their jobs. A woman in her 60’s is oice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s over the course of her lifetime than breast cancer After 60, a woman has a 1 in 6 chance of developing Alzheimer’s.”

“I believe we’ll succeed because I can still remember a time when cancer was a dirty word, and an HIV diagnosis was a death sentence.”

Maria Shriver, thewomensalzheimersmovement.org

The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement helps to educate women about their increased risk for Alzheimer’s and other dementias and what they can do about it, encourages women-based Alzheimer’s and other dementias research and funding, shares Alzheimer’s caregiver’ stories and helps to secure caregiver relief grants.

The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement has provided funding and research grants to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, Cleveland Clinic, and the Ann Romney Center for Neurological Diseases.

The movement also organizes a Move for Minds Day across the USA, a day focused on the mind body fitness and raising funds to wipe out Alzheimer’s.
