SILVER ALERT PROGRAM
Several States in the USA.
Program Description
The first 24 hours in which a someone disappears are crucial because it is in this time frame that the risk for death and injury is highest.
Seniors or others individuals with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia are registered with the Silver Alert Program before hand in order to issue an alert.
Data on file includes: personal information, a photograph, health and medical information and vehicle license number. Caregiver and physician contacts are also on file along with any living will or power of attorney information.
In the event of an emergency, responders will have access to the above information in order to locate a missing person as quickly as possible.
The Silver Alert Program is operated by law enforcement in each participating state with more states beginning to implement the program.
The Silver Alert Program is modeled after the Amber Alert Program, the emergency notification system for missing children.
