"FRYE ART MUSEUM HERE NOW DEMENTIA ARTS" PROGRAM
Seattle, Washington, USA.
Program Description
The “Frye Art Museum Here Now Dementia Arts” Program offers the following dementia and art programs:
Art Gallery Tour and Art Classes for those with dementia – art gallery tours and studio art-making experiences for individuals with dementia and their caregivers. Art-making in the Frye Studio encourages those with dementia to experiment with various art forms such as watercolor paint, clay, collage, poetry and more.
Art Gallery Tour - specially trained museum educators and gallery guides lead those with dementia and their caregivers on discussion-based tour highlighting works of art in the Frye galleries. Conversation creates an exchange of ideas without relying on short-term memory or recall of art historical information.
The Frye Art Museum also presents professional development training workshops, conferences, and lectures on the topic of art and dementia.
The Frye Art Museum collection includes artwork from the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century and also hosts exhibitions of works by internationally renowned and emerging artists.
