“The holiday planning is all done for you, or with you, from accommodation and travel to activities and meals. Our expertly-planned itineraries ensure there’s plenty to enjoy, whether you want to relax by the coast, walk in the mountains, or explore historic sites."
"We want to know what you can do, not what you can’t. We believe people can live well with dementia, remaining connected to nature and enjoying a sense of adventure.”
"From serene summer walks, joyful days of sport spectating, to tranquil kayaking trips on the water, our carefully crafted excursions promise to uplift your spirits and create cherished memories. With Green Letter Days, we want you to enjoy the beauty of nature and the warmth of companionship all year round."
-Dementia Adventure
Dementia Adventure provides a safe and supportive way for people with dementia to continue to travel, experience the outdoors, be active and to explore.
People with dementia and their carers often spend a disproportionate amount of time indoors. Dementia Adventure works to remove the barriers that prevent people from accessing outdoor spaces.
Dementia Adventure activities and outings are designed for individuals or small groups including carers to take short breaks and holidays.
Activities range from sailing, to taking holidays together to South Africa, taking walks through gardens, water activities, and more.
The Dementia Adventures staff will provide meals, transportation, and accompany guests on days out so that individuals with dementia and their caregivers can relax and receive much needed respite. The holiday get away provides:
-Around-the-clock support
-A five-day itinerary
-Rest and enjoyment for both the person with dementia and their companion
-Fully risk-assessed accommodation
According to ‘Greening Dementia’ a partnership between Dementia Adventure, Natural England and the Woodland Trust, engaging in outdoor activities results in improved:
Health, fitness, sleeping and eating patterns, verbal expression, memory and attention, mood, reduced stress, agitation, anger, apathy and depression, increased sense of well-being, independence, self-esteem, control, social interaction and belonging.
Dementia Adventures offers dementia training for family and friends, staff, volunteers and organizations such as care homes, NHS, local authorities and housing associations, green space organizations, and travel companies. Training helps inform and guide those who are supporting someone with dementia at home, in the workplace, or community.
