The aim of the "Michigan Certified Elder Friendly Communities" Program is to encourage the building of senior friendly communities as a strong senior housing option.
To be certified as a senior friendly community the following guidelines are looked at:
-Senior Safety and Personal Security
-Ease of Senior Transportation Walkability and Accessibility
-Senior Friendly Businesses and Services that meet unique needs of seniors
-Affordable Senior Housing that matches the wide range of lifestyle needs for seniors
-Senior Health Care Access
-Enriching Learning Opportunities
-Senior Activities and Recreation
-Spiritual Connections
-Respecting the Value and Contributions of Seniors in Society
