Program Description

The shelter provides a home-like and comfortable environment with crisis intervention, support, advocacy, referral, short-term housing and the necessities of daily life.

The Unison Kerby Rotary Shelter allows abused seniors who need help to stay up three months.   

The Unison Kerby Rotary Shelter helps older people who are:

  • Abused – physically, financially, emotionally, sexually.
  • In unstable housing.
  • In crisis.

A 24-hour crisis line and staff are available for public education and consultation on elder abuse.

The Elder Abuse Response Team (EART) is a partnership between Unison Kerby Centre, Calgary Family Services and Calgary Police Service.

  • Respond to and investigate suspected cases of elder abuse
  • Provide support and guidance to abuse victims and their families
  • Assist other service providers working with abuse victims
