Program Description

In addition to affordable senior housing in Chicago, the ‘Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly’ also provides free home repair assistance to seniors through a home upkeep and repair service to ensure seniors have safe living conditions in their own homes.

The organization runs a shopping bus to help seniors who have limited mobility to go grocery shopping, get their medications and other errands.

‘Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly’ provides housing in the form of apartments, shared living communities, and intergenerational housing community that brings together seniors, families, and youth.

Senior co-housing facilities include the Nathalie Salmon House, the Pat Crowley House and Blackhawk Manor.

Home sharing is an option for seniors who do not require nursing care. Each senior has their own bedroom and meals served family-style. Typical shared amenities include a kitchen, a community room, a fitness area, a garden room and library. Other residents are available to assist seniors with housekeeping and engage in social activities.
