FIRST STEP TO HOME – HOMELESS SENIOR MEN TRANSITIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM
Program Description
Community Outreach in Programs Addictions (COPA) works with seniors with addictions in the Toronto area by providing innovative and nonjudgmental outreach programs.
The organization provides outreach services to older adults wherever they are, in their own home, retirement home, long term care facility or homeless.
The Crisis Outreach Services for Seniors is an on-call mobile crisis service for older adults (65+ years) with addictions issues or mental illness. A team will come in-person to meet with the older adult within 24-48 hours. Short-term crisis response is available 365 days a year from 9am to 5pm.
A harm reduction approach is used that does not require acknowledgment of addiction or a goal of abstinence.
COPA is a non-profit, community organization providing holistic, innovative, and non-judgmental addictions, concurrent disorders and problem gambling treatment for older people in the community.
