"ELDERGRACE SENIOR 55+ COHOUSING COMMUNITY" PROGRAM
The Housing Trust.
Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.
Program Description
"We want to be for each other family, in the sense that we help each other have the grace and independence that we can."
- Resident of ElderGrace - Video: AARP's 2010 Livable Communities Awards.
Seniors own their own energy saving “green built” condominium homes in a senior community and balance personal privacy with senior group activities.
A common house is used for seniors to share meals, hold events and for meetings regarding decisions about the community.
Accessible pathways are available throughout the community along with access to nature trails, parks, and a community center. Terraces, community gardens and orchards highlight the “ElderGrace Senior Cohousing Community.”
Seniors who want to try out and experience senior co-housing may do so at ElderGrace by touring senior model homes, sharing a meal with other seniors in the community and staying overnight in the common house guest room.
The “ElderGrace Senior Cohousing Community” is a winner of the AARP and National Association of Home Builders Livable Communities Awards.
