Program Description
"SHINE provides educational materials and free unbiased insurance counseling to Florida elders, caregivers and family members. Our goal is to help elders understand and receive the health insurance coverage they need through Medicare, Medicaid, Prescription Assistance, Long-Term Care Planning & Insurance, and other health care issues."

Seniors receive help with Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance questions. Volunteers sit down with seniors for one-on-one counseling.
The goal of the “SHINE” Program is to provide seniors in Florida with free and unbiased health insurance counseling through a dedicated network of volunteers.
SHINE Program volunteers are always needed to help the elderly by carrying out the following duties:
- Provide information, health insurance benefits counseling, and assistance in person or by phone.
- Deliver educational presentations to seniors on health insurance benefits.
- Distribute educational and promotional materials in the community.
- Assist with general SHINE program support.
- Recruit additional volunteers.
- Educate community partners about the SHINE program to help increase awareness.
