Program Description
Mobile medical vans provide free health care, medical treatment and medications to disadvantaged elderly living in poverty in India.
Each mobile medical van travels with a qualified doctor, pharmacist and social worker and is able to make referrals to local hospitals for other services if required. The "Mobile Medical Unit" Program also provides home visits to bed ridden elderly, physiotherapy, yoga, meditation classes, shelter assistance, disability aids, counseling and help for seniors to access thier old age pension benefit.
Each senior citizen receives medical follow up if they attend medical van access regularly and also receives their own medical chart which stays on file with .
The "Mobile Medical Unit" Program helps elderly to maintain and improve their health and well-being.
The mission of “HelpAge India” is to help reduce elderly poverty in India, protect and advocate for the rights of India's elderly, and to increase awareness of the elderly and aging.
“HelpAge India”also has several programs to help the elderly living in poverty in India such as old age homes, day care, shelters, Alzheimer's, health camps, eyecre, cancer, AIDS, palliative care, disaster relief (such as floods) and much more.
