"There has been a lot of interest in volunteering for this program… we have true animal lovers who are embracing this opportunity."
- Nick Petti, Family Hospice, Pittsburgh.
"Pet Peace of Mind" is a national hospice care pet program that helps nonprofit hospices keep patients and their pets together during the end-of-life journey.
Support for the program also helps hospices find adoptive homes for pets, giving patients peace of mind that their pets will always have loving homes.
Banfield Charitable Trust is working to change the way hospices care for their patients and building a movement within the hospice community that recognizes the pet as an important member of the patient's family.
The
"Pet Peace of Mind" Program offers hospices a program model and funding to deliver in-home volunteer pet care services for patients who are unable to maintain routine health care and nutrition for their pets because of financial and/or physical disability.
The "Pet Peace of Mind" Program recruits volunteers for services such as feeding, walking, transporting the pet to veterinary appointments and more.
