Every year the Purpose Prize Program chooses a select few older adults from nominee submissions. Winners receive $100,000 to invest in their project. Winners are boomers who are using their passion and experience for social good. Some older adults choose to make a difference in their communities and others start international projects.
Older adults who are nominated or win the Purpose Prize are making an enormous worldwide impact by solving critical problems in education, health care, the environment, poverty, world hunger, womens rights, international and foreign affairs, helping orphans, engaging in advocacy and more.
Qualifications for a candidate of the Purpose Prize Program should be someone who is a compelling role model, whose own story will serve to inspire others, not only to think differently about the second half of life, but also to take on new leadership roles and perform significant service in an encore career.
Nominations for the Purpose Prize are welcome from any organization or individual with knowledge of a potential candidate. Nominees may also nominate themselves.
Encore.org is a nonprofit think tank on boomers, work and social purpose and helps boomers transition to jobs in the nonprofit world and the public sector.
