HELPAGE INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS TRAINING TOOLKIT
United Kingdom.
Program Description
“Older people continue to be subjected to ageism and discrimination
and denied their rights. Protecting and promoting older people's rights in national laws and policies and in a potential new UN Convention on the Rights of older persons can change this to create a world where we all enjoy our rights whatever our age and at every stage of life."

“Ageism refers to the stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel) and discrimination (how we act) directed towards people on the basis of their age.”
“We believe older people must be part of the growing discussion on their human rights.”
“World Health Organization data shows that ageism shortens people’s lives for around 7.5 years mainly due to placing access barriers to health and care as well as increasing loneliness and social isolation.”
