Program Description
“McMaster was one of the first undergraduate programs of gerontology in Canada. The McMaster Centre for Gerontological Studies was founded in 1985 and over the years has played a central role in teaching and research in Canada.”

The Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging partners with the community, students, faculty, decision-makers, and older adults to conduct research, create its curriculum and affect policy.
In addition to teaching aging related issues the center also educates organizations, caregiver groups, and the public and private sectors.
The Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging focuses on the following aging related issues:
- Aging and Independence.
- Aging and Social Inclusion.
- Aging and Mental Health.
