“…when we consider the lived experiences of LGBT older adults we also see that this may affect our ability seek help. There’s you know been this fear that if a person is being supported by somebody who is actually abusive that they may threaten them with outing them as a LGBT person…They may fear that you know should they be in a situation where they’re dependent on someone who’s being abusive for financial means, for emotional support that they’ll lose that support.”
