Program Description
Lawyers and staff may visit seniors at home, long-term care home, hospitals, or retirement homes for legal service assistance.
The Advocacy Centre for the Elderly Programs provides programs to help seniors with legal services such as:
-Legal Services on Advance Care Planning, Consumer Protection, Consent And Capacity, Elder Abuse, Health Care, Home Care, Long-Term Care Homes, Pensions and Income and Retirement Homes.
-Public Legal Education - speaking engagements on elder law issues and self-advocacy including a published manual entitled Long-Term Care Facilities in Ontario: The Advocate's Manual and a DVD on Powers of Attorney.
-Law Reform: Research and advocacy for changes in legislation and policy effecting seniors in Ontario.
The Advocacy Centre for the Elderly is a community based legal clinic for low income senior citizens and is the first legal clinic in Canada to specialize in the legal problems of seniors.
