Program Description
Through the "Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy (HICAP)" Program trained volunteer counselors can provide seniors assistance with:
-Medicare rights and benefits
-Appeals and denials of coverage
-Medicare supplemental insurance (Medigap policies)
-Medicare Advantage plans, employee and retiree coverage
-Long-term care insurance
Legal assistance and accompaniment for seniors at Medicare appeals or administrative hearings is also available.
Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy (HICAP) counselors do not sell, recommend, or endorse any insurance product, agent, insurance company, or health plan.
The organization California Health Advocates provides quality Medicare and related health care coverage information, education and policy advocacy.
