WHERELive Well San Diego.
San Diego, California, USA.

Program Description

“The Intergenerational Games were created as an innovative approach to address health and social issues in the community, such as the alarming rate of overweight youth and the high rate of seniors diagnosed with diabetes and heart disease.”

“...you know the other great thing about intergenerational games that we have here is to really to look for and fight stereotypes that are out there. The kids see that seniors aren’t just hanging out on the couch and not active when in fact they are very active.”

Active older adults can serve as role models for youth and help dispel stereotypes of seniors.

The event which brings together the old and young can fight ageism by showing participants of all ages a new level of respect for the strengths, abilities, and challenges of each generation.

The Intergenerational Games has inspired other communities in San Diego County to have intergenerational game events. Organizers hope that the unique concept will continue to grow in popularity and spread further to other areas.

Live Well San Diego brings together community members, organizations, and government in a collective effort to help resident live well.
