"CANADIAN AS A SECOND LANGUAGE INSTITUTE – ENGLISH FOR SENIORS PROGRAMS"
Program Description
"The two most commonly cited reasons for taking ESL classes don't expire with age: a Department of Education survey found that more than 90 percent of ESL students said they signed up to improve how they felt about themselves or to make it easier to perform day-to-day tasks."

"By learning how to take a bus and the Skytrain, what to say at a restaurant, and how to ask for directions, (senior) students can feel more comfortable going out and exploring Vancouver by themselves. They will then go out to places like restaurants and supermarkets in downtown Vancouver, with a teacher, to use the English they have learned in class."

“Canadian As A Second Language Institute – English for Seniors Programs” are ESL classes designed to help senior students 50+ prepare themselves for visiting or living in Vancouver. Break-time games, special events, and international theme nights stimulate cultural and senior social interaction in English.
The program also offers classes especially for seniors who wish to refresh their English skills and enjoy tourist attractions. The class combines learning English in a classroom with exploring popular sightseeing sights in Vancouver.
English teachers are native English speakers with professional English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher training and TESOL certificates.
Senior accommodation is available with host families. Host families provide a place for seniors to live and enrich their cultural experience while helping them practice and improve their English.
