"Every May in the Republic of Ireland approximately one quarter of the country’s over 65 year olds celebrate the fact that they’re growing older with the annual Bealtaine Festival, Ireland’s groundbreaking ‘celebration of creativity as we age.’The Festival gently questions expectations of old age.”
“From dance to cinema, painting to theatre, Bealtaine showcases the talents and creativity of older artists…It is a chance for people to make new and challenging work, a chance to communicate traditions between the generations.”
Older adults participate and attend art events, workshops, classes, performances and concerts.
Hundreds of organizations participate from arts centers, libraries, retirement groups, care settings, community groups, clubs, and associations and work to put on the festival.
