Program Description
"Ebenezer's award-winning horticultural therapy program offers campus (senior) residents the opportunity to participate in four-season garden clubs. These groups involve residents in a wide array of activities related to plants, gardening, nature and the outdoor environment. Club members meet twice a month (weekly at the Minneapolis Care Center) with a horticultural therapist. There is also a monthly garden or nature-related outing."

Senior citizens in Ebenezer's nursing care homes, assisted living, memory care, senior housing and adult day programs can learn how to garden by having hands on experience while benefiting from being in nature and the outdoor environment.
Ebenezer's Horticultural Therapy Program consists of all four-season garden clubs.
Seniors meetings are held with a horticultural therapist weekly or bi-weekly along with a monthly nature outing.
Some garden activities for seniors include:
-Bird and butterfly watching
-Creating floral arrangements
-Cooking with produce and herbs from gardens
-Reading about nature and the great outdoors
-Growing and tending houseplants
-Tending flower gardens
Ebenezer's Horticultural Therapy Program was awarded "Innovation of the Year" by the Minnesota Health and Housing Alliance or now known as Aging Services of Minnesota.
