Program Description
Once-a-week the group of seniors gets together at a school to recall memories, practice mind fitness and relay stories with each other in this special memory program
Volunteer coordinators attend the memory program meeting and set a certain subjects to be discussed by seniors.
The goal is to have seniors talk without interruption and switch from one subject to another to create a memory flow.
The memory program has been given assistance by Hidetoshi Endo, the director of consultations at the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology in Obu, Aichi Prefecture.
Costs for administering such schools are reasonable, and ordinary citizens can help to run them after the memory loss prevention training.
After seniors graduate from the memory-method school, they are asked for assistance in volunteeing to help others.
