"MEMORIES AT THE MUSEUM ALZHEIMER'S" PROGRAM

WHATPeople with mild or moderate Alzheimer's or a related dementia along with a family member or friend can experience an educator led art museum tour.
WHYThe art museum visit is made for the general well being and enjoyment of those with Alzheimer's and also in the hope of stimulating visual and verbal abilities and possible memory recall.

Program Description

A Museum educator engages those with Alzheimer's and their companion visitor in discussions about current exhibitions and artwork at the museum.

Alzheimer visitors alternate between the following four museums in central Balboa Park: Museum of Photographic Arts, Mingei International Museum, San Diego Museum of Art, and the Timken Museum of Art.

The "Memories at the Museum Alzheimer" Program is free of charge.

The museum also offers the Seniors Exploring Photography, Identity and Appreciation Program- A senior art appreciation program for older adults to generate art dialogue and artistic activities among older adults and to teach art appreciation.

"The mission of the Museum of Photographic Arts is to inspire, educate and engage the broadest possible audience through the presentation, collection, and preservation of photography, film, and video."
