Program Description
Past nomination categories for the “International Dementia Excellence Awards” Program have included:
-Dementia Nurse of the Year
-Team of the Year
-Unsung Hero
-Dementia Design Innovation of the Year
-Pleasure of Eating
-Good Nights
-Dementia Volunteer of the Year
Nominations can be made by staff in statutory, housing, health, education, private and the not-for-profit sectors. People with dementia and their carers are also invited to apply. All projects must relate to dementia.
The awards are international and individuals or organizations from anywhere in the world are eligible to apply.
The Dementia Services Development Centre is internationally recognized as a center for excellence in coordinating dementia projects which produce tangible results. The center actively works to improve services for people with dementia and works with local authorities, volunteers, emergency services and government organizations to provide dementia training and education. Services include dementia conferences to workshops and seminars along with undergraduate and postgraduate courses in dementia studies. The Dementia Services Development Centre also houses one of the UK's largest collection of literature on dementia and related topics in their dementia library.
