Seniors are connected with the Seniors Services Society Homeless Outreach Program by referrals from other agencies and from calls from citizens and professionals concerned about a senior’s housing situation.
Each senior’s situation is assessed on an individual basis through a meeting with an outreach worker. The goal is to ensure seniors have access to safe housing. Homeless outreach workers are able to find out what the senior’s health, income, and other concerns are.
Outreach workers can make referrals to different agencies to solve the underlying problems that may cause seniors to be homeless. If problems are resolved before hand senior homelessness can possibly be prevented.
