Program Description
"Everyone has the right to food and shelter, yet too many seniors existing at or below the poverty line live in homes that are unsafe. A new roof, bathroom accessibility, or safety modifications can make it possible for a senior to remain independent, improving their lives and keeping communities strong."

"Senior Connections" provides seniors with free or subsidized home repair assistance services completed by licensed and bonded skilled workers. Elderly may qualify for subsidized home repair services depending on place of residence, income and age.
Generally, any home repair assistance related to senior health and safety will be considered for free repair.
Examples of repairs that may be allowed:
-Weatherization to Reduce Heating Bills
-Furnaces Repaired or Replaced
-Water Heaters Replaced
-Plumbing and Electrical Fixed
-Leaking Roofs Repaired
-HVAC repairs

The following repairs are generally not allowed: painting, room additions or appliance replacements.
In order to qualify senior homeowners must live in the home, be 62 years or older, not have a reverse mortgage, be current on property taxes, have no tax lien on the home, have homeowners insurance and meet certain low income guidelines.
An additional program the “Fixit Connection” program helps elderly find a trusted handyman service by providing a referral to a contractor. Seniors can receive help with home repair by dealing with Senior Connections staff who guarantee the work of carefully selected contractors who have provided quality work and customer service in the past. The “Fixit Connection” program can help seniors avoid becoming victims of elder abuse by dishonest contractors.

-Prepares and delivers senior meals

home care
-Senior home repair assistance and home modifications
-Seniors centers
-Health and wellness classes
