Program Description

We want to help older Americans celebrate the joy of living by creating a sustained, trusted relationship with support systems that allow them to age at home―wherever that may be. We will change the aging experience through our most aggressive initiative to date―Aging with Options."

The Aging with Options Program helps older adults access senior services. The organization uses guidance and expertise to help seniors with the aging process by providing services in the following areas:
- Community Engagement – a system that would helps neighbors to help neighbors. Examples include errands, shopping, yard work, home repairs etc.
- Home and Community-Based Services - help with senior health care or daily activities such as medication, medical equipment in-home care.
- Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) – adult day care services such as senior meals, medical care, therapy, prescription drug fulfillment, and referral to other social services.
Case Management – physicians, nurses and social worker help elderly to arrange long-term care services, and a care plan.
Transportation - safe and accessible senior transportation to appointments and other errands.
Meals On Wheels - meals for the elderly, disabled, and homebound and daily contact with a volunteer.
Foster Grandparents - Seniors volunteers to help youth by providing emotional support, tutoring and mentoring.
Protection against Elder Abuse and Neglect – assistance in preventing and dealing with elder financial abuse physical abuse and other forms of abuse through the Elder Justice Training Partnership.
Villages - concierge services for seniors in an existing neighborhood such as home safety and security and socializing with other older adults.
Long-Term Care – medical care including medications, supplies, equipment, and other services.
Assisted Living Facilities - to assist elderly with the activities of daily living, preparing meals, bathing, dressing.
Companion Services- visiting homebound elderly to with errands and provide companionship.
Senior Centers –services such as senior social activities, nutrition, educational and recreational opportunities.
Volunteers of America is one of the largest nonprofit provider of affordable senior housing, skilled nursing care and assisted living for seniors. The organization provides affordable housing and services to approximately 8,000 seniors each year.
