WHYYad Sarah`s aims to keep the ill and the elderly in their homes and out of institutions as long as possible as in-home care in a natural family environment in some cases may be optimal both physically and emotionally.

Program Description
"Today, 30 years after it was founded, Yad Sarah has 103 branches throughout Israel run by more than 6,000 volunteers, and saves the Israeli economy about $320 million a year in hospitalization and medical costs."

Yad Sarah`s provides the following services to seniors:
- Free Lending of Medical and Rehabilitative Equipment on a short-term basis including crutches, wheelchairs, oxygen concentrators, electronic monitors and more.
- Transportation and day care centers for seniors and the disabled, drop-in centers
Low cost dental clinics for the elderly. - Personal emergency alarms monitored 24 hours a day – provides security for elderly people living alone through two-way transmitters. Seniors can touch a button worn on the wrist that automatically connect them to help.
- Adopt-a-Family Program - sends out specially trained volunteers once or twice a week to give family caregivers a break.
