Program Description
The "Late Life Suicide Prevention Toolkit" Program was developed for health care providers such as physicians, nurses, front-line workers, mental health professionals and educators in health education programs at universities and colleges.
Some of the materials in the "Late Life Suicide Prevention Toolkit" include:
-Interactive, case-based DVD on elderly suicide
-Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health National Guidelines for Seniors' Mental Health
-Clinician Pocket Guide: The Assessment of Suicide Risk and Prevention of Suicide
-Assessing and Treating Depression in Elderly
The elderly prevention toolkit was developed by experts in the fields of geriatrics and suicide prevention, clinicians, researchers and academics, community agencies/organizations, family and advocacy groups.
The Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health also has a toolkit on elderly depression called:
Tools for Health Care Providers : The Assessment & Treatment of Depression in Older Adults.
