California, USA.

Program Description

“As the only national organization focused on solely on senior poverty, Justice in Aging is there as a champion in the courts for those who have been marginalized and excluded from justice. Working in partnership with advocates and pro bono attorneys at the nation's top law firms, we’ve returned billions in benefits to older adults with limited resources.”

“…by using the power of law to strengthen the social safety net, and remove the barriers low-income seniors face in trying to access the services they need, we work to ensure the future we all envision for our loved ones and ourselves.”

“We use information we receive from this network of professionals to identify problems in current systems and to develop and push for the adoption of policies to address those problems. If we are not successful in getting government agencies to adopt those policy proposals, we develop litigation that will break down barriers to benefits.”

Justice in Aging uses the law and litigation around Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, and SSI program to advocate for older adults and fight senior poverty.

Justice in Aging helps provide health care and economic security for older adults through the following:

Trainings, Publications, & Webinars - trains advocates and legal aid lawyers on how to advocate successfully for their clients.

Administrative Advocacy
- works directly with state and federal agencies to ensure that essential government programs are fairly administered and accessible to qualified seniors.

- file class action lawsuits on behalf of named plaintiffs to force needed changes in government policies or ways of administering benefits.
