“Feeding America network of food banks, pantries and meal programs serve virtually every community in the United States 40 million people, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors.”
“The rate of hunger among seniors aged 60 and older has increased by 40% since 2001, a lingering effect of the 2008-09 recession. At the current rate, the number of food-insecure seniors may grow to more than 8 million by 2050.”

Feeding America’s program to prevent senior hunger takes into account the special needs of older adults such as specific health conditions, transportation needs, physical limitations and mobility issues along with dietary needs and restrictions.
Feeding America’s report ‘The State of Senior Hunger in America' documents food insecurity in older adults living in the United States. The report breaks down food insecurity information and data among seniors by state and geographic region.
