Seniors volunteers engage in fitness and nutritional education to help children fight childhood obesity.
The Active Generations Program also known as the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) Program coordinates the efforts of parents, teachers, seniors promoting healthy behaviors such as fitness, good food choices and nutritional education in children.
The Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) Program consists of a nutrition lesson, physical activity followed by a healthy snack.
Benefits to senior volunteer are that they are also kept active and encouraged to practice what they preach.
OASIS works with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, YMCAs, schools and other youth organizations.
The goal of the OASIS organization is to promote successful aging through lifelong learning, healthy living and social engagement. They work for seniors to have opportunities to pursue vibrant, healthy, productive and meaningful lives. OASIS operates in 24 states and is growing. source:oasisnet.org
