Program Description
"Pet
Pals of Texas" provides in-home pet care, food, and veterinary support to companion and service animals of the terminally ill and disabled so that they are able to live together in their home.
Pet Pals volunteers provide in-home care for pets through regularly scheduled visits to the homes. Some volunteer duties include:
-Walking dogs
-Cleaning litter boxes
-Small animal cage cleaning
-Aquarium maintenance
-Administering medications
-Light grooming
-Transporting pets to groomers or veterinarians
-Placing pet foster care or placement in adoption upon hospitalization, death or institutionalization of the owner
Individuals requesting pet assistance must complete an application and have written documentation of their illness or disability and proof of low-income such as SSI/SSDI,Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc.
