Program Description
Organizations are encouraged to host screenings of the "Annual Educational Spirituality and End-of-Life Care" Program and will also receive program guides and other materials to assist with the screening of the program.
Topics covered in the "Annual Educational Spirituality and End-of-Life Care" Program DVD include:
-Define spirituality from religion
-Spiritual issues and coping may throughout an illness and how it effects end-of-life care and grief
-Importance of spiritual assessment and sensitivities
-Approaches to meaning-making at the end of life including reminiscence and life review, and dignity enhancement
-Describe approaches toward helping clients utilize and enhance spiritual coping as they cope with end-of life issues, including spiritual practices, rituals, beliefs, and faith communities
-Define and acknowledge spiritual counter-transference
-Demonstrate sensitivities to the particular concerns of major faith systems toward end-of-life care
The "Hospice Foundation of America" provides end of life care for professionals, patients and families. The foundation's goal is to provide leadership in the development and application of hospice and its philosophy of care with the goal of enhancing the U.S. health care system and the role of hospice within it.
