Program Description
The Wisconsin Senior Employment Program provides older adults with:
-An assessment to determine individual training needs
-Supportive services
-Potential for employment.
-Job-related training which may consist of upgrading existing skills, developing new skills, educational opportunities
-Career counseling
-Job placement assistance and assistance in keeping a job
Employment training in new skills and technology is provided to seniors by host agencies that are either non-profit or governmental.
Older adult
workers are
mentored and supervised and their progress is charted and are paid minimum wage.
Seniors are likely to provide organizations with a strong work ethic, high productivity, extensive life and work experience, low absenteeism and turnover rates.
Examples of senior job placement locations include:
Schools, hospitals, senior centers, nutrition programs, conservation programs, day care centers, holding positions such as nurse and teacher's aides, library clerks, clerical workers, adult and child day care assistants, campground recreational coordinators, maintenance workers, and more.
