RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER KNITTING PROGRAM (RSVP)
Hollywood, California, USA.
Program Description
Proceeds from the sale of knitted crafts help pay for senior programs that have suffered budget cuts and the Hollywood senior center's annual volunteer banquet.
The Retired Senior Volunteer Knitting Program allows seniors to contribute, be creative, pass time, and connect with others in a positive way. Once introduced to the program seniors are then made aware of the other programs offered by the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
The RSVP Program matches seniors with volunteer opportunities and promotes self-esteem among people 55 years of age and older by enabling them to use skills and life-time experiences to provide volunteer service to others.
Examples of volunteer positions for seniors include: knitters, crafters, artists, fund raisers, advisory council members, party preparers, conference materials assemblers, hosts, front desk volunteers, clerical workers drivers and more.
The"Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a part of the National RSVP Program by Senior Corps and the Corporation for National and Community Service, which provides volunteer opportunities for seniors across the United States of America.
