"FREE RAMPS RAMPATHON" PROGRAM

WHATAn annual program that uses volunteers and members of the Master Builders organization (home builders, contractors and home remodelers) to build free wheelchair ramps and access ramps for low-income homeowners.
WHYTo provide free wheelchair ramps for the disabled and elderly so that they can have safe access in and out of their homes.
WHEREMaster Builders Association. King & Snohomish Counties, Washington, USA.

Program Description

The "Master Builders Care Foundation" accepts applications for free ramps to be built at their annual Rampathon. In past years approximately thirty free access ramps have been provided to the disabled or the elderly.

In many cases due to low-income or incorrect resources the disabled or the elderly are using make-shift access ramps that are unsteady and unsafe.

The free ramps built by the annual "Rampathon" Program are made to promote elderly safety, by having a solid, skid-resistant surface, with handrails.

The free access ramps are suitable for wheelchair access, canes, and walkers.

In addition to building free ADA-approved wheelchair ramps for low-income disabled or elderly residents, the "Master Builders Care Foundation" also builds, repairs and improves facilities to house the homeless and reduce homelessness.
