Program Description

Professionals will learn how to identify areas of concern involving senior drivers, and if necessary will assist in the transition of lifestyle changes for an older drivers that will help keep him or her safe.

The "Bringing a Peaceful Resolve to Complex and Sensitive Senior Driving Issues" Program is an elderly driver safety program providing training for professionals on how to speak to the elderly about driving. The driver safety program is appropriate for nurses, doctors, independent and assisted-living facility administrators, senior center and assisted living activity directors, social workers, case managers, law enforcement officers and dispatchers, court officials, elected officials, news media, geriatric professionals, insurance agents, attorneys, counselors, community leaders, and EAP counselors, and others.

The course has been approved for Continuing Education (CEU) credits in several states and covers early intervention tools to be used to deal with elderly driving, identifying signs of decline in the senior driver and how to help senior drivers, concerned family members, with dignity and fostering independence.

The "Keeping us Safe" organization also helps elderly drivers through the following:

A workbook for senior drivers and their families entitled, "Beyond Driving with Dignity."

Keeping Us Safe Self-Assessment for Senior Drivers Program - A neutral party helps senior drivers and their families make decisions about the safety of continuing to drive while aging. The program provides a dignified way to deal with the question of when if at all to take the keys away from an elderly driver.
