LEADERSHIP COUNCIL OF AGING ORGANIZATIONS

WHAT The Leadership Council of Aging Organizations is a group of organizations concerned with advocating for the well-being of older adults and is committed to representing interests such as ageism and health care policy.
WHYTo advocate for the needs of older adults by reaching out to public and private leaders and influencing public policy change that supports seniors on aging related issues such ageism, affordable health care, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

Program Description


"We are a large coalition of the nation's non-profit organizations serving older Americans. Our 69 member association is diverse and dedicated to preserving and strengthening the well-being of America's older population. We provide a voice for seniors and their families in the ongoing national debate on aging policy."

The Leadership Council of Aging Organizations provides information about issues affecting older persons, is involved in joint advocacy strategies and provides leadership as we are facing an ever increasing aging society.

All members of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations are dedicated to:

  • Advocating for America’s older adults in the public and private sectors by meeting with leaders.
  • Public policy change to meet the needs of seniors such as Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination.
  • Working with political, social, economic, religious groups to support American seniors.
  • Fighting against ageism and discrimination based on gender, race or ethnic origin
  • Recognizing the diversity and contributions of seniors to society through career and community volunteer work.
