Program Description

"Nursing homes face many challenges: high turnover, intense regulation, changing expectations, and residents with multiple health conditions and clinical issues. Arkansas Innovative Performance Program takes a tailored approach to quality improvement in the nursing home or assisted living facility, to help meet these challenges while creating a culture in which residents' social, personal and clinical needs are consistently met."

The program gives medicaid certified nursing homes access to professional expertise and experience such as nurses, physicians, and innovative thinkers to improve nursing care and specifically long-term care. The aim is to eliminate the old model of institutionalized care and provide a more quality, person-centered care environment.

An initial visit assesses current staffing, systems and needs after which point the program will work with nursing home staff and administrators to improve elderly nursing care, determine problem areas and develop a plan and solutions.

The program works with nursing facilities by providing conferences, onsite training, training videos, online training guides, consultation, and follow up. They also can tailor the improvement program to meet the needs of an individual nursing home, multi-facility nursing group or long-term care community. The program also has an online step by step guide on how to implement culture change in nursing homes.

The “Arkansas Innovative Performance” Program offers solutions related to resident quality of care and support in the following areas:
